Bureau of Fire Safety & Housing Inspection

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the New Jersey Fire Code, the Borough Housing Code, the Borough Rental Registration Regulations.

Performs post-fire investigations, participation in National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and community fire prevention education programs.

Additional programs of the new Department include “quality of life inspections”, fire alarm system registration, housing and / or fire-related complaint investigation programs, kitchen exhaust hood inspection / maintenance programs and the issuance of smoke detector, Carbon monoxide and kitchen fire exitinguisher compliance certificates.
