Does the Police Department offer fingerprinting services?

Fingerprinting services are available by appointment for all Borough residents for employment, Monday-Friday from 9am until 4:30pm.  There is a fee of $5.00 per fingerprint card.  We can only fingerprint on the FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card. Please call the Detective Bureau at (609)-921-8108 to make an appointment to be fingerprinted on a FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card.

If you need to get fingerprinted on a New Jersey SBI (State Bureau of Identification) card, this needs to be done through the state contract vendor Sagem Morpho Inc.  Please visit the New Jersey State Police website link http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/serv_chrc.html link for further details.

Fingerprinting for Immigration purposes is not provided by the Police Department.

I receive calls from solicitors requesting donations for various police related associations.  Are these legitimate?  Should I donate to these solicitors?
The Princeton Borough Police Department does not solicit over the telephone.  The Princeton Borough Police Department is part of the PBA #130 .  The only solicitation done by the PBA is through the mail, usually once annually.  Calls from other “law enforcement” organizations are usually done by telemarketing firms.  These solicitations do not benefit the Princeton Borough Police Department, PBA #130.  These telemarketers are not Police Officers and use high pressure tactics to get you to participate.  Several of them will say their solicitations benefit your local police department.

We urge you to use extreme caution should decide to contribute to these agencies.  The only organization making money from this type of solicitation is the telemarketing firm.  If you decide to contribute to any of these organizations, always ask for the name, address and telephone number so that you may call back after careful consideration.  Most of them will not give out this information. You may also ask for financial statements and/or budget information prior to making your decision.  If you have any questions please direct them to the Police Department.

Can I leave my vehicle parked in the street overnight?
Parking in the roadway is prohibited from 2am-6am.  Permits are issued in some circumstances to Borough residents which allow overnight parking in the roadway.  If you have an emergency and must leave you car on the roadway overnight, you must contact the Police Department at (609)-924-4141 to receive temporary permission.

Who do I call to report problems with neighbors regarding property and/or zoning disputes?
Any civil disputes of this nature should be referred to the Zoning or Engineering departments at (609)-497-7634.  The Princeton Borough Police Department does not get involved in these types of civil matters.

Does the Police Department concentrate on certain roadway where speeding vehicles are a problem?
If you have a specific complaint, please refer it to the Patrol Lt. Currier (609)-924-4141 ext. 2115.

Is the use of headlights now required when it is raining?

Yes.  New Jersey added this provision to an existing statute earlier this year.  If you use your wipers to clear precipitation from your windshield, you must have your headlights on.
