Princeton Borough Police Department

A group of Princeton Borough Police officers served items other than summonses on Wednesday.
The police officers visited Elm Court to spend some time with residents who would otherwise be alone for Thanksgiving.
The officers served the residents of the center a Thanksgiving meal prepared by the Elm Court staff.
Elm Court houses Princeton low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled residents.
Detective Carol Raymond said the officers' involvement stemmed from a conversation she had with Elm Court's social worker Rhona Porter earlier this year.
"I wanted to find a way for us to brighten the residents' lives a little bit," Detective Raymond said.
Some of the complex's residents do not have families to spend Thanksgiving with or are too frail to travel, Detective Raymond said.
Beyond serving up the turkey dinner and all the trimmings, the police officers stayed for the meal to talk with residents.
"It's a great way for us to learn how we can help improve their quality of life," Detective Raymond said.
She also said she hoped other citizens would follow the police department's example and volunteer time at Elm Court. The center always needs volunteers for its Christmas Eve party, and especially needs musically inclined individuals to play holiday standards, she said.
Police Chief Charles Davall said he was happy the department could participate in the community's celebration.
